Aeshaane

Aeshaane by Neesha Amrish is a brand known for its exquisite collection of scarves, featuring a rich array of styles, specialist techniques, and authentic materials. The label specializes in contemporary designs crafted using traditional techniques, offering a range of scarves, kimonos, and capes. Recognized for its exceptional craftsmanship, Aeshaane was selected by The Victoria & Albert Museum for their 'Fabric of India' festival in 2015, where it was prominently showcased. Aeshaane embodies the ethos of slow fashion, celebrating the craftsmanship of rural artisans from local communities. Their use of Vegan silk, a cruelty-free fabric, combined with the ancient art of hand block printing, creates visual masterpieces. Blending traditional techniques with striking patterns, the brand seamlessly bridges the gap between tradition and modernity, resulting in unique and one-of-a-kind creations, each infused with the touch of experienced artisanal hands.

What are the signature elements in your designs?

The pieces are sustainable and eco-friendly, made from 100% Natural Ahimsa Peace Silk without harming the silkworms. The designs are modern and contemporary but with an Indian soul!

Which celebrity or personality do you dream of dressing?

Deepika Padukone,

Which collection are you most proud of, and why?

Honestly, I'm proud of all the pieces that we've created simply because they do not age with time and can be passed on as heirlooms from Mother to daughter. But having said that, I feel my first collection is really special since I did'nt have blocks back then, and cut out patterns and motifs using potatoes and used them to print intsead. The collection was inspired by the humble 'Alu'.

Where do you find inspiration for your designs?

I find my inspiration in nature, especially leaves and flowers. I'm also strongly driven by geometry and draw inspiration from mundane things like zebra crossings and zig-zags on the road.

Which designer in the world inspires you?

Coco Chanel

Share a memorable "aha" moment from your design career.

My 'Aha' moments truly come from supporting my grassroot artisans, when I'm actually able to help them send money home, fund their children's education or simply fly them back from their hometowns!
